It was another South African winning in South Africa last week as Haydn Porteous grabbed his maiden European Tour win. The Tour gets into full swing this week as the players head back to the desert for Abu Dhabi, Qatar and Dubai. 

On the PGA Tour it was another stop in Hawaii, this time for Sony Open. 20-under-par was the number as Argentinian Fabian Gomez saw off Brandt Snedeker in a play-off. There was an interesting rules decision to be made as Zac Blair seemed to have his hybrid club touching his chest when chipping on the 17th. The new rule not allowing any club to be anchored to the body. In the end no penalty was given.


 

No competition news from the Club again for obvious reasons. Each time the course dried out last week, along came another bout of rain. I went out to see the lads last week and came across Guy doing his inspection.

On a serious note, it was nice to see some golf being played this week after all the bad weather. I know it not ideal for everyone having the 'carrying only' rule but it the only way we could open the holes we have.
