The second leg of the European Tour's Middle East swing is over and it was South Africa's Branden Grace who cemented his place as one of the planet's top players. It was delightful to see two of Alan Thompson's students finish in the top five as both Lee Slattery and Andrew Johnston impressed. Over in America the final round was played at a very wet and windy Torrey Pines, Brandt Snedeker was the only person to break par on Sunday which is incredible, his 69 was enough to clinch a one shot victory from KJ Choi.


 

18 holes are open again now at Heswall and we have several competitions to report on in a new look format where we will now see the top of the leaderboard for each event. The week saw the men's Midweek event take place, the Winter League return and the ladies play a best two scores from three with all scores counting on par-3s.

Thank you to the attendees of yesterday's Pitching Clinic. Once again we learnt some exciting, simple but effective ways of getting that ball close from 50 yards and in. It's not revolutionary content but it will hopefully get rid of that indecision and lack of commitment to the shot that many amateurs suffer with.


 

The golf course is drying out nicely now due largely to the recent high winds. This has meant that Guy Cannings, the Course Manager, has been able to lift the trolley restriction. There are still areas of the course that are very wet so please keep your wheels to the driest parts to aid further with the recovery process. There may still be some temporary greens on a day-to-day basis. This won't stop competitions or matches from going ahead. Please check in the shop before you tee off if you are not sure.
