Hello golfers,

This week's newsletter features a FREE fitting opportunity with Nike, some brand new arrivals here in the pro shop with a real focus on warmth, as well as a competitive week of action on the course...

Enjoy the read.

Tour news

If you want a man guaranteed to play well in India then it's SSP Chowrasia. All of his 4 European tour victories have been here. There was a tremendous show of sportsmanship from his closest challenger Arinban Lahiri as he clapped SSP's approach to the 72nd which, from under the trees, was simply brilliant.

Not to be outdone at the Arnold Palmer invitational, Jason Day faced the toughest shot in golf, a 35 yard splash out from the bunker to leave 3 feet for the win. An impressive wire to wire victory for the Australian.

Competition news

Midweek stableford - Thursday saw the course at its driest for a long time. This certainly reflected in the scoring as David Hunt recorded an excellent 29 points over the 12 hole course. The runner up was Gary Lewis with 26, beating Martin Higby on count back.

Saturday Stableford - In the stableford on Saturday, protein shakes helped the golfers around. It would be interesting to hear the feedback on them. In division one, Jayesh Tank topped the list with 39pts from Brian Baldwin (38) and Graham Dixon (38). Mark Leat recorded the same winning score of 39pts in division 2, The runner up was Ben Kelly with 38 on count back from Keith Stevenson on the same score.

Ladies 15 Hole Stableford - There was some Lovely weather for the ladies on Tuesday for their 15 hole stableford. Barbara Garratt made some hard work pay off as she returned 29 points in division one. Some great scoring followed as 3 ladies then scored 28, Ros K Osborne and Sue Banks pipping Judith Brown on count back.

In division 2, Christina Hornsby had an excellent 32pts, with Alka Tank the runner up on 30pts. In third was Bernadette Jones with a strong 29pts. Division 3 was won by Sheila Kenwright with 32, second was Barbara L Stokes with 29pts and third was Helen Billington with 28. Another count back in division 4 as Sylvia Comer's back 9 for 28pts was ahead of Kath Graingers, and third on 27 was Sue Lovell.
