After 18 events, the Trotter series has almost come to an end. The aggregate title will be decided by an 18-hole medal play-off between Micheal Robinson and Joe Williamson. In Trotter 18 itself, category one left-hander Mike McQueen took top spot with a nett 70, runner-up with the best of a whole host of 73s was Jim Eddowes, knocking Tom Kitchen into third.
Blue tees were the order of the day on Saturday for the Autumn meeting. Division One was won by Graham Dixon with a fabulous 69 against the standard scratch of 75, runner-up with 71 off scratch was James Hornsby, third on countback was Jack Grey with another 71. With his putter away for repair, therefore using a spare out of the garage, John Reid won Division Two with a 72, beating Phil Boon on countback. In third place was Peter Kirkham with a 73. So congratulations goes to Graham Dixon who will lift the Autumn Meeting Trophy at the next prizegiving.
In the alternative Yellow-Tee Stableford, the scoring was also excellent which is testament to the vast improvement of the putting surfaces of late. John West was the winner with 42 points, Julian Wallace was subject to a four shot handicap reduction after he returned 41 for second spot, third with 40 was Craig Russell.
The juniors also played a Stableford on Sunday. Ewan Mehra won the 18-hole event, Will Betteridge was the 12-hole winner and his sister, Iona, won the green-tee comp.
The ladies had two events running on Tuesday: a 27-Hole Medal for the qualifiers of the Captain's Prize, and the Stableford in-between. The weather yet again played a part in the day. We had baking hot sun until lunch time and then a dangerous weather suspension at 3:00pm. In the end, the event was completed and Trudi Harris was the main event winner after scores of 77 & 35 for a 112 total. Runner-up, and just one behind, was Jan Lyon who returned 76&37. Third with 115 was Sara Spencer. Wendy Smith won the stableford with 36 points, Sheila Kenwright was one behind in second, third with 34 was Barbara Chesworth.
With Autumn upon us it's time to gear up for the colder weather. I've just taken delivery of a fantastic new range from ProQuip. Lined sweaters for £69.99 and the Pro-Flex waterproof suit for £179.99. The Pro-Flex comes with a 3-year guarantee and is available in gents or ladies, and can be sold as jacket or trousers separately.
I'd also like to introduce the latest technology that Nike have on offer for the upcoming cold season. Tech Sphere technology has been integrated into their range of sweaters and sports cover ups. Come in-store to have a look.
Don't forget to grab a bargain on the sale rail; we have all of this Summer's shirts and pants on sale at rock bottom prices.
I've heard lots of people talking about how certain holes or a certain run of holes always ruins their card. I will therefore now be offering on-course lessons on these specific holes. As the course quietens down there is an opportunity to drive out onto that hole and play it different ways, building confidence for future rounds.
