There are always some good scores at the Dunhill Links. Tyrell Hatton's 62 at St Andrews helped him to a 5 shot victory over Ross Fisher and Richard Sterne for his maiden win on tour. Brandt Snedeker claimed the Fiji International whilst still recovering from his Ryder Cup hangover. Luke Donald is the host of this week's British Masters at the Grove in Hertfordshire.
Well done to Joseph Williamson for overcoming Mike Robinson in an 18 hole playoff for the 2016 Trotter Trophy, his name will be forever embossed on the honours board in the spike bar, joining England rugby Captain Austin Healey no less!
The qualifying rounds have now finished at the club however we will still continue to run competitions over the winter.
Last Thursday's stableford was won by Paul O'Neill in the men's section with 38 points, Christine Hancock stormed to victory in the ladies event with a fantastic score of 40.
Trevor Moon & Colin Nugent dove tailed superbly on Saturday to win the 4BBB with a ten under par 46, runners up with 44 were Carl Law & Martin Andrew, third with 43 were Rick & Sam Austin, beating Pete Vine & Ben Kelly on countback. There were ten 2s recorded on the day.
On Tuesday the ladies played a stableford competition, temperatures had dropped but scoring remained hot. Racheal Maitland had a 24 hour window between flights, being part of Emirates cabin crew, in order to play a comp, it was time well spent as she was the winner in division 1 with 36 points. Christina Hornsby was runner up losing on count back, third with 35 was Judith M Brown.
Jan Lyon cruised to victory in division 2 with a 3 under par score of 39, second with 37 was AnneMaria Kitchen, third with 30 was Pat Kearon.
There were 2 more under par scores in division 3 as Sandra Cohen and Sheila Kenwright scored 37, Sheila carding the best back 9. Third with 35 was Liz Lewis.
There's a nice story to complete the scoring, as Jan Lyon's sister, Deborah Mintowt, made it a family double with a win in division 4, her score of 38 was three better than Norah Baker in second, Thea Cornford was the best of a bunch of 32s for third. There were two '2's recorded.
Have you had your grips checked recently?
Poor shiny grips are often the cause of inconsistent golf. If you grip too tightly then you change the muscle usage in your swing. A new set of grips will feel like a new set of clubs. Now is the time to come and get them done.
