Hello golfers, 

Welcome to this week's edition of the Heswall golf shop newsletter. I guess we will all be out on the course trying a little pause at the top of our backswing having seen it work wonders for Hideki Matsuyama in the HSBC Champions event over at Sheshan in China. The Japanese golfer was very impressive holding off some real big guns to lift his maiden WGC trophy. The final series in the European tour kicks off this week with the Turkish Airlines Open where they have an interesting tee on 16th.

Maybe we should play our 1st this way off the Pro Shop roof!?


 

Work has now started on the drainage on holes 1 and 2, this means the 4th hole is back open to a temporary green while one of the holes affected gets work done to it. The contractors only have a week or so left on site, the weather had played a huge part in them being able to crack on with it. I'm sure everyone who has been following the progress will agree that there has been an extremely professional job done on the new greens.


 

Our Titleist Christmas ball promotion has now started whereby, through our website, we are offering FREE BALL PERSONALISATION on any order placed before 18th December. Minimum order is one dozen. They will be available to collect from the shop once they arrive. No payment will be taken online. 




There are still spaces available for next Wednesday 9th November Short Game Clinic. It will run from 10-13:00 at a cost of £40 per person.


 

The Midweek Stablefords last week again produced some exceptional scoring. In the 12 hole ladies event there were 5 under par scores of 29 for Christine Hancock and Margaret Steels. Christine winning on countback, as well as a 4 under 28 for third placed Gill Cooper.

Dave Holgate was at it again in the men's event, a 6 under par 42 taking the money, ahead of Brian Edwards with 41 and Dave Harland with 40.

Five and six under par on Saturday, however, was only good enough for a top 30 place. 12 under par 48 was needed to get on the podium in the 4BBB stableford. 3 pairs managed it, Jon Little & Adam Moore were the best of those, runners up were Jeff Adams & Dave Pennington, third was John Reid & Tony Walker. Great scoring that!

The ladies had an 11 hole top course event for Lady Captain's Day, followed by some lunch and a rules talk by Iain in the clubhouse. The winning team in the best 2 from 4, with all scores on par 3s, was Joan Wilson, Trish Lees, Alka Tank & Hilary Sharpe, their score of 72 was 6 ahead of Clare Palmer, Sue Jones & Liz Lewis playing with a Ghost card. Third with 65 were Jean Breckinridge, Barbara Jamieson, Theresa O'Neill & Val Smith.
