Brisbane was the host of this year's World Cup of Golf. There were some strong representatives from our shores. Chris Wood & Andy Sullivan, Graeme McDowell & Shane Lowry, Russel Knox & Duncan Stewart and Stuart Manley & Bradley Dredge. It was however the Danish pairing of Soren Kjelsdon and Thorbjorn Olesen who were crowned champions. The Alfred Dunhill Championship down at Leopard Creek will kick off the 2017 season. It's great for the game to see Tiger teeing it up again as he plays in the Hero World challenge in the Bahamas this week
Thea Cornford was the winner in the Ladies section of the Midweek Stableford last week with 26 points, runner up with 24 was Wendy Smith. In the Men's event it was Chair Of Golf John Body who claimed top spot with 28 points, Laurie Kirkbride was second with 26.
There was a foggy start to the Men's 12 Hole Stableford on Saturday. Conditions were far from easy but we still saw some under par scores. In division one Neil Stephenson was the winner of a five way card countback with 25 points, runner up was Paul Jamieson, third was John Little. Rob Prytherch won both the sweep and division two with 27 points, second with 25 was Brian Hillhouse, third on countback was Tom Grace.
Conditions were considerably better on Tuesday than last week for the Ladies Turkey Trot. Over the 'top course' it was a best 2 from 3 format with all scores to count on the short holes. Scoring was close. The winning team, with 58 points, were Sue Lovell, Ala Lloyd & Maureen Blackham, just one behind were Clare Palmer, Mary Holgate & Norah Baker. Third with 56 was Steff Way, Anne Chadwick and Chris Bates. Mary Holgate & Barbara Garrett recorded the only 2's of the day.
