The WGC Mexico Championship has to be the most entertaining golf I've watched for a long time. We had tee shots of 360 plus yards, a one bounce hole in one, Mickelson taking advantage of every rule possible, balls getting stuck up trees and an incredible performance once again from Tommy Fleetwood. The Southport man finishing in second place on his own just one shot behind world number one Dustin Johnson, this has pushed him up to 35th in the OWGR meaning he will be playing his first Masters in April. Down in South Africa, local man Dean Burmeister continued his hot streak to romp home in the Tschwane Open.
A weeks' worth of heavy rain has put pay to a lot of the golf recently. There was no Midweek Stableford for that reason. We did manage to have a dry day on Friday, and Saturday's Wave Competition went ahead. The winning team with a score of 83 points was Mike Mcqueen, John McNeil & Mark Sanderson. Runners up with 81 were Dave Hughes, Neal Sleeman & Keith Morrison. Third with 80 were Steve Skupski, Neil Stephenson & Mark Dewhurst.
The ladies also managed to get out on Tuesday to play their 12 Hole Stableford, conditions were mild which was more than welcome. Division one was won by Susan Totty with 25 points, she was followed closely by Ruth Walker with 24 and Hilary McNeil with 23. Jackie Walker had a level par 24 to win division two, runner up with 23 was Wendy Smith, third with 22 was Sue Pogson. A countback on 24 points was needed to decide division three, Ala Lloyd just getting the result ahead of Joan Wilson, third with 23 was Pat Platt. Thea Cornford was the winner of division four for the umpteenth time this season, her 22 point haul was one better than Barbara Stokes with Gill Cooper third on 19.

Modernising Golf's Rules
Last week the R&A proposed some key changes to the Rules of Golf from 2019. Their Rules Modernisation initiative has been underway for a few years now and this is the next stage in that process. The aim is to not only make the Rules easier to understand, but also to address some of the game's current problems, such as speed of play, and ensure they fit the needs of today's game.
Please spare a couple of minutes to complete our survey, which gives you the chance to have your say on the proposed changes.
We've picked out some of the most significant Rules changes for you to digest in this survey, before giving you the chance to say whether you agree or disagree with each of them. It'll be great to know your thoughts.
