Hello Golfers,

Tour news

Tour News

The Trophy Hassan II on the European Tour has been kind to local golfers over the past few years with Cheshire's David Horsey winning it twice. This year it was former club member Paul Waring that gave himself a great chance of claiming his maiden tour victory being just 3 shots back of leader Paul Dunne going into Sunday. A 3 under par final round from Waring was a great score, but Italian Eduardo Molinari with an eagle on the last, came tearing through the field with a closing 67 to lift the trophy after a playoff.

The PGA tour was over at Hilton Head for the RBC Heritage. Ian Poulter was trying to play himself into a position to keep his card, but had alligator trouble on Saturday. Jason Dufner, fresh from a missed cut in the Masters, found his form at the right time, but a faultless final round from rookie Wesley Bryan saw him win the famous checkered jacket by one shot from Luke Donald.

Course news

Summer Tees Open

On Wednesday we put the summer tees back out on the course and all tees are open for any member at anytime. In years gone by the blue tees have been reserved for special medals and matchplay competitions, but if you want to challenge yourself then please give them a try. Summer conditions will be in place as soon as the new greens are open which is still expected to be during the first week of May.

Please help to keep our course in the best condition possible by taking a divot bag out with you and repairing not only yours, but other pitch marks along the way.

In Saturday's 18 hole stableford it was Ethan Smith's day in division one as the 2 handicapper carded a winning 40 points. Sue Jones won division 4 with 36 points with Trish Lee in second with 35 points and in third was Jenny Jackson with 34 points.

Father & Son Are Victorious

Congratulations to Father & Son team of Ray and Dave Lawless for winning the winter foursomes after the final against Dave Cederholm & Rich Knowlson went to extra holes. A winter win is always warming when thinking back to the long, cold slogs around the course in December and January!

Well done also to Neil Scott who defeated the Captain (is this allowed?) to win the seniors singles matchplay title
