Hello golfers,

Tour news

European Tour

Tommy Fleetwood was the favourite going into the Shenzhen International in China after a second and a third in recent years. He was 8 shots back going into the final round, but a stunning round of 63 saw him in a playoff against Austrian, Bernd Wiesberger. Tommy had been in the clubhouse for a good while before going back out onto the 18th tee in the playoff. A par wasn't quite good enough as Wiesberger made a birdie to lift the trophy.

PGA Tour

In the Valero Texas Open Kevin Chappell, playing in his 180th event fought off Brooks Koepka's charge to claim his maiden victory on the PGA tour.

Competition results

Midweek Stableford

The 12 hole gents' midweek stableford was won by Brian Edwards with 30 points, runner up with 26 was John Body and James Smethurst was third with 25. Wendy Smith shot a level par 24 points to win the ladies event. Anne Scriven was runner up with 21 and in third with 20 was Pat Sheen.

Texas Scramble

Saturday's Texas scramble was a team of 3 format with each player required to take a minimum of 5 drives. The winning team were Adam Moore, Ryan Garland and Ethan Smith with a gross 60, nett 58.5. Runners up with nett 60.8 were Shay Keogh, Dave Lawless and Rich Knowlson and in third with nett 62.2 were Bryan Baldwin, Steve Skupski and Graham Dixon.

Ladies Tuesday Stableford

Woolly hats and hand warmers were back out as the arctic wind graced the ladies Tuesday stableford, however, we still had a full field of hardy souls.

In division 1, Barbara Jamieson fired a superb one under par gross 39 points; runner up with 36 was Lady Captain, Heather, piping Clare Palmer on countback. Sue Day was the winner in division 2 with a level par 36. Runner up was Marilyn Jones with 35 ahead of Theresa O'Neill in third on the same score. There was another countback required in division 3 with Irene Scott coming out on top ahead of Ann Scriven, both scoring 37 points. In third with 33 was Brenda Dooney. Trish Lees completed the quad of par or better scores with a 36 to win division 4. Runner up with 34 was Mary Holgate who beat Christine Fisher on countback.

New Greens

We are all getting excited by the impending unveiling of the new greens. I would just like to reiterate the need to keep them in pristine condition along with the other greens by repairing all your pitch marks and any others you see along the way.
