Greetings golfers,

The European tour headed across to Henrik Stenson's home course in Sweden last week. Friend of the club Jamie Donaldson has become a forgotten man since his Ryder cup heroics, the bad weather specialist took a narrow lead into the weekend. His challenge sadly faded, finishing in the top 10. The winner, Renato Patatore claimed his maiden tour victory with a solid Sunday performance.


 

Competiton Roundup

Congratulations to Tom Dolan (pictured) for winning the Frank Stableford Trophy at Wallasey on Sunday. He scored 38 and 41 points for a seven under par total.


Thursday last week was round 4 of this season's Trotter Series, there was a record number of people playing, 107 people took a card out, that is great to see, the Stableford format proving its worth.  Harry Kennedy took the spoils with a great round of 43 points, causing his handicap to drop to 7.5. Man of the moment Mike Robinson was second with 42, third was Martin Higby with 41 after a 3 way tie.


On Saturday the course was presented to the visitors in all its glory with the sun beaming down. 73 guests in all took to the fairways with their respective members. Scoring was excellent in this better ball format, no one however saw a score of 49 coming, Craig Allen and parter Julian Dearden did though, winning by 3 and defending last year's title - Impressive stuff. Second were Keith and brother Iain Greenfield with 46, third on the same score was Ray Parsons and guest Gary Furlong.


The Ladies Team Invitation on Tuesday was shortened to an 11 hole ' top course ' event in view of the weather, which for June was atrocious. The winning team with 51 were Alka Tank & Sue Jones with their guests Anne Dulson & Liz Marshall. Runners up were Jo Ratcliffe & Eileen Kilgannon with Lynsday Housley & Brenda Cross. Nearest the pin on 16 was Louise Kerneghan who played with Sue Pogson and nearest in 2 on 18 was Barbara Jamieson.
