Greetings golfers,
The top 120 on the European Tour Race to Dubai headed to Austria last week for the Lyoness Open, there were only a couple of big names playing which gave some of this year's tail enders a real chance to earn some big money. There was a second place finish for Cheshire's David Horsey which was great to see. The winner, unsurprisingly was the player who made the fewest bogies, in fact Dylan Fritelli made only 6 in 72 holes on his way to victory.
Over in the states it was the FedEx St Jude Classic at TPC Southwind, this is a good warm up for this week's US Open. Daniel Berger has played some great golf of late and has been threatening a win, a final round of -4 saw him cross the line one ahead of South African Charl Schwartzel.
Competition Roundup
We are now already up to Trotter number 6, Number 5 was a closely fought contest between 3 single figure players. Elliot Smith's 4 under gross round of 39 points pipped Ally Macdonald on countback, third with 38 was Cameron McIvor.
The Gayton Estates Medal fell foul of the exceptional rain on Saturday morning.
Testament to the quality of the drainage we now have around the course, we had to delay the start but ended up playing a Roll Up Stableford. This was good news for Richard Larkins whose 43 points stormed to victory. Second with 37 was Andrew Kitchen. Full of confidence from Thursday's superb round, Elliot Smith was 3rd with 35.
