Greetings golfers,

The BMW International always attracts the big names as the European Tour summer swing starts. Stenson, Garcia and Els were all in attendance. There was yet another top 10 finish for Fleetwood as he chases down Garcia at the top of the Race to Dubai. It was, however, Argentinian 250/1 shot Andres Romero who lifted the trophy with a winning total of 17 under par.

There was a dramatic end to the Travellers Championship in America as Jordan Spieth and Daniel Berger required extra holes. After a bit of luck, hitting a tree and bouncing back into play, Spieth was up against it needing to up and down from the greenside bunker to keep the playoff alive, such is his mental strength and skill, he went one better and holed it from the sand for an unlikely 3 and the victory.

Saturday was the first round of the Ball Cup off the blue tees, a day where the 36 hole tournament couldn't be won but could certainly could be lost. John Dolan topped Division Two with a 70, second was Brian Dhenin with 72 and third with the same score was Andy Green.

Those who didn't fancy the blues could tee up in the alternative Yellow Tee Stableford. After knocking on the door for a good few weeks, it happened for Dave Hughes in the form of 45 points!  A great score. Runner up with 40 was Steve Shepherd beating Colin Nugent on countback.

The ladies played their Summer Meeting on Tuesday, it didn't feel like summer however. Christina Hornsby won Division One with a nett 72, runner up with 73 was Barbara Jamieson, Lady Captain Heather was third with 76. Annemaria Kitchen topped Division Two with 78, runner up on 79 was Wendy Smith. Third with 80 was Sandy Cooper.  In Division Three, Chris Bates won with a 77, two back on 79 was Pat Platt, third with 80 was Joan Wilson. Kath Grainger was Division Four's winner with a 74, one back was Thea Cornford, third with 77 was Gill Cooper; Therefore the overall winner of the summer meeting was Christina Hornsby, congratulations!
