Centenary Salver Stableford - Those gents who fancied a break from the golf battled it out in foul conditions for the Centenary Salver Stableford last weekend. Division 1 saw a high scoring affair with three people coming in with 39 points, but winning on countback was Graham Thomas from Keith Greenfield in second and Dave Garratt in third. In Division 2 Chris Moores triumphed with a solid 34 points - was it his lesson in the week or his day at the Open that inspired him? In second, having rushed onto the tee in the nick of time, was Colin Smith with 30 points and in third, playing in the worst of the weather , was Russ Favager with 29 points.
Ladies Stableford - The ladies enjoyed a stableford on Tuesday however many didn't enjoy the 'Asian like' sticky weather. In Division 1 Kath Milligan reduced her handicap with a superb 38 points, Trudi Harris was a close second with 37 and Sue Hewitt came in third with 36 points. Division 2 was headed by Marylin Jones with 37 points to finish one ahead of second placed Barbara Chesworth, with Pat Kearon in third on 34 points. Three lots of 34 points in Division 3 meant that countback was used to see Jaqui Hynes take first place, Jan Lyon second and Eileen Kilgannon in third. Another big score of 38 points for Sylvia Comer won Division 4. Jacqueline Walker kept up her recent form with 32 points in second and Beryl Chase scored 31 to complete the top three.
