Dustin wastes no time...

The world number one needed no bedding in time after the festive break as Dustin Johnson won by a clear 7 shots from John Rahm in the Champions tournament in Hawaii, which included a tee shot that ended 3” away from a hole in one on a 433 yd par 4 during the final round.

The European tour kicks off this week again with the South African Open whilst Thomas Bjorn’s Eurasia cup team, including Fleetwood are taking on a strong Asian Team over in Kuala Lumpur, which will give us an insight into next September’s Ryder Cup.

Time to play some golf!

The rainy days have turned into cold frosty days but at least this means golf! On Thursday only 11 people played the Gent’s Midweek Stableford much to the delight of winner David Holgate who amassed 29 points, beating playing partner Roy Christian by one.

There were 128 players on Saturday though for the 4 ball better ball Stableford over 14 holes. With a great score of 34 points the winners were John Close & Peter Bellfield; runners up with 32 points were Graham Small & Paul Berry and with 31 points and in third place were Norman Waddell with Captain-elect, Trevor.

All the greens were back in play for the ladies on Tuesday but it was perishing as merely completing the 13 holes was an achievement in itself! The competition was a 3 player Wave and with 48 points the winners were Trish Lees, Yvonne Parker & Kath Grainger while the runners up were Thea Cornford, Alice Rogers & Sheila Scott with 44 points and in third place went to Hazel Ridge & Tamara Allen with a score of 43 points.

How good are you really at putting?

You may have seen an email about this earlier this week but here’s a reminder.
You know what your handicap is but have you any idea how good you actually are at putting? Come and have an assessment whereby I can give you your actual putting handicap.

Counting your putts at the end of the round is good, but not a totally accurate indication. For example, if you hit all 18 greens you are likely to have more putts than if you only hit 9. This assessment is how the pros calculate their ‘putts gained’ statistics. The assessment will last around 45 minutes and of course I will be helping you with your stroke and green reading skills as we go along.

Ladies, come and see PING's new clothing range

In a slightly different approach to ladies clothing, I’ve invited Ian from PING to come to the club on Tuesday 20th January between 1pm and 3pm with his collections for both spring/summer and autumn/winter ‘18. He will have sizes for you to try on and an order pad so that you can choose your new wardrobe early. And of course any orders taken on the day will be discounted by 10%.
