Greetings from Tom Atkinson
Heswall Golf Club - PGA Golf Professional

Open hysteria has calmed down bit and left a lot of inspired golfers in its wake.

There are spaces available for both of the upcoming Gents Invitation Fays. Times can be reserved on the noticeboard in the locker room.

Trotter 8

Trotter 8 last Thursday was testament to this. Ryan Hanna, who worked all week inside the ropes at Hoylake, came in with a lifetime best 68 nett 65 reducing his handicap to 1.8 in the process. Simon Banks, having marshalled the 3rd at Hoylake, also came in with his best ever effort 78 nett 67, and in third was Ray Lawless with an 82 nett 68.

Summer Meeting

The Summer Meeting on Saturday was played in glorious conditions off the blue tees. Division 1 was won by Harry Kennedy with a solid score of 79 nett 69. Bob Mottershead was second with 85 nett 71 and Oli Carr had a superb 68 nett 71 to finish in third.

In Division 2, having recently joined and playing in his first blue tee medal, Ed Dhenin won by 2 shots with 90 nett 68 ( handicap reduction of 3 shots!!). In second was Dave Stonley 89 nett 70 and third, despite his bunker trouble on 16, was Phil Boon with 94 nett 73.

Yellow Tee Stableford

In the Alternative yellow tee stableford, Bob Spencer topped the list with 40 points to win by three. David Hollins was runner up on 37 and Paul Sherrard came third with 35.

Flora Edwards Trophy

The Ladies played for the Flora Edwards trophy on Tuesday, again some good scoring and a standard scratch of 74. The results are as follows:

Congratulations to all of our winners this week!

Peter Thomas and I competed for the Lombard Trophy on Friday at Dunham Forest and we can report that we won't be at the grand final at Gleneagles in December. Neither sadly will the Captain and I be in Turkey for the Captain-Pro national finals in November despite our 68 at Fixby Hall on Tuesday.

I still have a few Titleist 913 metals left in stock at seriously low prices with a 'try before you buy' option on most of them.

The purple Ladies Gilets have now arrived, the sweaters are still in the pipeline but I am expecting them next week,

I hope you enjoy the rest of the newsletter and have a great week.
