Your weekly Tour report
Mexico hosted the first WGC of the year. There was a surprise 54 hole leader in Shubankar Sharma, so much so that he was blanked by playing partner Mickelson when he introduced himself on Saturday night with Lefty thinking he was a reporter! It’s was Phil however who had the last laugh as he picked up the trophy after a playoff with Justin Thomas with both finishing on -16. Justin Thomas will feel hard done though as on Saturday morning he stood on the tee at Level par. What a weekend’s golf for him! Challenge Tour graduates were out in force in South Africa for the Tshwane Open with a number of regular tour members playing in Mexico. South Africans tend to be good in South Africa though and it was experience that shone through for home winner George Coetzee.
