The Men's Invitation seems to be cursed this year, after a total abandonment in June we had an hours weather suspension on Saturday. Eventually everyone resumed play and enjoyed a beautiful afternoon's golf. The winners were John Denton and Gary Furlong with a superb 43 points. Runners up were Martin Battishill and his brother on 42, with Richard Larkins, Brian Edwards and Roy Christian made up the rest of the places with their partners. Special mention to Chris Beamish playing with Brian Edwards for having a hole in one on the 4th, unfortunately he wasn't paid out for a 2 because he didn't get one!!
The ladies took a break from competition play this week and instead enjoyed an exchange day with Prestbury ladies. A good time was had by all.
Last Thursday's Trotter was another close, low scoring competition. Winning on a back 6 playoff was Stuart Kearon who is refinding his form with a 76-8=68. Runner up, and as consistent as ever, was Tom Dolan 67+1=68 and in third, seeing his handicap falling yet again, was Andy Green with 86-18=68.
The Captain and I saw off a brave fightback to beat Roy Christian and Brian Edwards by 2&1 in our latest challenge match on Sunday.
The newly introduced Monday 12 hole informal for the 10-13 year old juniors has become a big hit. This week's winners, off the green tees, were Alfie Ierston with 39 points, Lewis Body with 32 points, Leo Baldwin with 22 points and William Betteridge with 18. Thanks to Bryan Baldwin for giving up his time to organise these events
We are endeavouring to remove all damaged range balls from the system so please if you come across one can you put it in one of the bins provided rather than hit it down the range!
