Another week of mixed weather, and another competition falling to a waterlogged course. This time the Mixed Open had to be called off on Sunday, hurricane Bertha proving too much for our much improved drainage systems
Before this week's comp results I would like to make an apology to Stu Kearon. His Trotter victory two weeks ago was actually a gross 74 off 6 not a 76 off 8. In fact his handicap has not been as high as 8 for about 15 years, sorry Stu!
Last week's Trotter 10 was yet another low scoring affair, Shay Keogh was the winner with a 74 net 66, Frank Lovell came in second with a 79 net 69 and Lloyd Hart had a lowest gross 69 for a net 69 in third.
Saturdays competition was the QEII Salver off the white tees, and John Trott was obviously getting to grips with his controlled draw bringing in a solid 83 net 70, John introduced Harry Kennedy to the club this year and Harry was one shot back with 80 net 71, in third with the lowest Gross was Carl Adams with 72 net 71
Division 2 was won by Dave Stonley who is continuing his purple patch which has seen his handicap drop 4.2 in the last 5 comps, he won with an 87 net 72, Second was Jim Rymer with 93 net 73 and third was Phil Boon with 93 net 73.
Tuesday was ladies invitation day, good scoring and a good time was had by all, congratulations to Pat Sheen and Mercedes Sheen on their victory with 43 pts, also to Barbara Chesworth and Anna James who were runners up with 39 and Sue Totty and Di Marshall in third with 38.
Well done also to Pat Platt who was nearest the pin on 7th, and Pat Sheen rounding off a great day with nearest the pin on 14th The event also raised £93 for the Lady Captains Charity
There are number of demo models from Titleist, Adams, Cobra out and about amongst the membership. I now have options on buying those demos so please return them to the shop ASAP so I can organise this.
Where to leave the rake once finished in the bunker is a common question we get in the shop, the answer is, there is no rule, it's up the the individual club. At Heswall we are asked to put the whole rake back into the bottom of the bunker. A general bunker rule however : please leave the bunker in the condition you would expect to find it in.
The divot bags are still available for general use, these, combined with the divot boxes on the par 3 tees need to be used more in order to keep our course in the fantastic condition that we are currently enjoying.
