First outing off the backs...
The first blue tee major of the year was played on Saturday in the spring meeting. The extra yardage proved tough for most with the standard scratch climbing up to 75. Steve Ladell, however, relished the challenge and carded a more than impressive 66 to take the title - what a score! Runner up to Steve in Division One was Paul Jamieson with 72, and Simon Banks was third on the same score. Matty Bowes took the junior prize with a 72 of his own. Simon Guest won’t know what to do with himself when he doesn’t finish in the prizes, as he was the Division Two winner once again, this time with a 78, while runner up was Allan Speechly with 79 and third with the same score was Mike Thomas. A number of players opted for the yellow tee stableford as an alternative to the blues. It was the right decision for Steve Sutton who topped the list with 37 points, Bob Mottershead was second with 36 and Colin Nugent was third with 35.
