There's a moral to the story...
The Irish Open was played over the stunning Ballyliffin Links, and there was one part of the game that once again proved to be the most important.
On the 72nd hole Ryan Fox hit his approach to 10’ and missed the putt to win; Russell Knox hit his to 50’ and holed it to get into the play off; then on the first playoff hole Fox found the fairway and hit his approach to 8’; Knox found the rough and hit scrambled his ball the the back of the green in an almost identical place to his last one.
Then, it happened, Knox holed and Fox missed, and the trophy went to the best putter. There’s a moral to that story. Over in America at the Greenbrier home player Kevin Na’s methodical approach to the game doesn’t go down well with everyone but last week it paid off and he collected his second PGA tour title. All eyes on Gullane this week for the Scottish Open as most of the top 10 are in town before Carnoustie next week.
