Last week's winners were...
We had had a little bit of rain in the week but conditions were still fast and fiery for the Trotter. Nick Orr played the first 7 holes in level par on his way to his winning score of 39 points, runner up with the same score was Ross Cornford and third with 38 was Neil Scott. It was the third successive blue tee medal for the gents on Saturday in the Summer Meeting, following some hard work on his swing, some recently fitted irons and a course lesson on Friday morning Alan Fowlie carded a level par 72 to take the title. In division one Dave Cederholm had some real bad luck on the way to his 73, if his tee shot on 4 was 2’ further right he would have been looking at a 2 not a 5! Runner up to Dave was Stephen Shepherd on the same score, third with another 73 was Joe Williamson. In division two Sean Holgates 73 was runner up to Alan and third with 76 was Paul O’Neill. Leo Baldwin won the junior prize with a 75.
Ken Morris scored 40 points to win the Alternative Yellow tee Stableford, Chris Starkie was second with 39 and third with 37 was John West, edging out Simon Carter on countback. The David Hewitt cup was a bit of a wash out on Monday as biblical rain fell at 3pm. But like Paul Lawrie said during the 1999 Open, someone had to win. Taking that mentality on board was Stephen Shepherd who scored 39 points, runner up with 37 was Bob Blick and third with the same score was John Hynes. It was the past-Lady Captains’ Stableford on Tuesday in very pleasant conditions. In division one, Barbara Garrett enjoyed a 2 point win over Clare Palmer after scores of 37 and 35, third also with 35 was Sue Banks. 35 was the winning score in division two for Marilyn Jones, pipping Anne Chadwick on countback, third with 34 was Tamara Allen. Division three was won by Sheila Kenwright with 36, runner up with 34 was Bernie Jones and third with the same was Alka Tank. The overall winner was from division four though as Kelly Marsh absolutely stormed to victory with 43 points, Kath Grainger was second with 34 and third with 33 was Susan Jones.
