What a moment!
Many of you will know of Bromborough’s Paul Waring and his Caddie Jamie Guy. They headed to the Nordea Masters in Gothenburg for Paul’s 200th European Tour start having never won one. Paul headed into the final round 2 shots ahead of playing partner Thomas Aiken and played some great golf all the way around until getting a really bad lie in the bunker on the 72nd hole with a one shot lead, opening the door for the South African Aiken who accepted the invite and made a birdie 4, forcing a playoff. So back to the 18th tee they went. Paul went first and put the pressure on with a 285 yard bomb down the fairway while Aiken, who hit all 14 fairways in regular play, found the hazard 50 yards right, meaning he had to chop it all the way up the hole leaving Paul with 2 putts from 15 feet for the win.
What a moment!
There are not many who deserve it more than him. Well done lads.
