Back up and running...
The 2019 season got under way on the European Tour last week all be it in Asia for the Hong Kong Open. There were some big names on show, Garcia & Fleetwood being a couple of them, there were also some rookies who were excited to start using the cards they had just earned. 5 years ago Aaron Rai was competing in the North West region against me and some of our attached professionals - and then in Hong Kong, he won. What an effort that was holding off both Tommy, who had a poor final day, Sergio and Fitzpatrick who had a storming last day.
The PGA Tour took a break as many of the players headed to Melbourne for the World Cup of Golf. This is a Paris format, representing England were Ian Poulter and Tyrell Hatton, whose temper got the better of him once again. The winners were the impressive Belgian duo of Thomas Pieters and Thomas Detry.

Countback required...
It was the ladies Turkey Trot team event on Tuesday and there were 2 spot prizes on offer. Nearest the pin on the 14th was won by Theresa O’Neill and nearest the line on the 13th was won by Joan Wilson. To the main event, three teams all scored 44 points therefore the committee were called upon to use card countback to decide the prizes.
In first place were Theresa O’Neill, Chris Hancock & Jackie Banks while runners-up were Wendy Smith, Ala Lloyd & Barbara Stokes and in third were Maureen Blackham, Alka Tank & Chris Fisher.
