Tour round up The European Tour headed south this week for the South Afircan Open at Randpark.
Not for the first time the home grown players really shined with 9 South Africans finishing in the top 14. But it was Louis Oosthuizen who showed his class winning his national open by taking the title by 6 shots. Special mention to Bryce Easton who is coached by Alan, for his career best tied 3rd place finish. The PGA Tour headed to Naples Florida for the QBE shootout; a pairs event with a scramble and fournsomes as part of the format. The winners with a total of 30 under par were Patton Kizzire & Brian Harman.

Last week's runners and riders
Conditions were tough for the midweek Stableford on Thursday, testament to that was the fact Alan Fowlies’ 2 was the only one of the day. The competition was won by Mark Roberts with 25 points, runner up was Ben Kelly with 24 and third with 23 was Peter Walsh.
The gents played the Turkey Trot over the 13 hole layout on Saturday. In a best 2 from 4 format the winning team with a score of 70 was Mark Fitzpatrick, Tom Lewis, Colin Singleton and Daniel Kerr. while runners up were Phil Taylor, Martin Battishill, John Reid & Adrian Wright with 66 and third with 65 was Peter Lees, Brendan Bilton, Allan Speechly & Andrew Green. There were only 2 twos in this event too. Well done to Martin Battishill and Daniel Kitchen.
After a day of rain on Monday the course was unplayable but recovered very well for the ladies competition on Tuesday; a best 2 from 4 scores team event over 11 holes. With a score of 49 points, the winners were Dawn Hodge, Sandra Cohen, Kath Grainger & Jane Mountfield and runners up with 47 were the team of Christina Hornsby, Jaqui Hynes, Christine Fisher & Alison Rhodes.

We all want to enjoy playing golf, and a big part of this is lowering our handicap. Yes, there will be times when your game isn't up to scratch and you go up .1 a few times in a row, but there'll also be times when all of the puzzle pieces fit and your handicap tumbles. |
What does your graph look like? As the year comes to an end, it's important to take stock and examine where you can improve your game going into the new year. There might be several areas that you want/need to work on, or maybe just two or three finer details that will take your game to the next level. |
Whatever those areas are, we're here to help. We can identify the key reasons you're not shooting the scores you want, as well as devise a personalised winter coaching plan to help iron out those faults and get you paying your best golf. So, if you want to see your handicap tumble in 2019, come down to the shop for a chat - you've got nothing to lose and everything to gain. |
