Golf across the globe...
The European Tour was back up and running last week with a Wednesday start at the Abu Dhabi championships, which is now a Rolex series event, so it was all to play for. Tommy was looking for 3 back to back victories but it wasn’t meant to be, he did play the weekend though. The Irishman Shane Lowry showed his class to fight off an approaching field with a solid final round of one under par to lift the famous trophy by 1 shot from South African Richard Sterne. There was another event over in the far-east as they battled for the Singapore Open where there was a debut victory for Thailand’s Jazz Janewattononand. La Quinta was the setting for the desert classic on the PGA Tour where scoring was as hot as the sky! Phil Mickelson carded a ridiculous round of 60 on Thursday, and he was 2 clear at the top on -22 going into Sunday’s final round. So to the 72nd tee and he was tied, along with Adam Hadwin & Adam Long at 25 under par. Phil and Hadwin made par but Long, a rookie for 2019 made the all important birdie to clinch the title.
