18 holes of qualifying golf were played by the seniors on Thursday in the February Stableford.
Keith Rafferty, for the third time this season, managed to edge out John Reid on card countback after they both returned scores of 39, while third place went to Brian Edwards on the same score. Alan Fowlie won the gents midweek Stableford with a steady score of 24 despite a few too many putts. Runner up with 23 was Mark Dunbar pipping his playing parter Jamie Powell on the back 6. Kelly Marsh won the ladies event with 19, beating Wendy Smith by 1. There was another new event on the fixture list for Saturday’s men’s comp, a best 2 from 4 Team event. It was tight at the top and the computer was called into action again. Four teams scored 60 points. But the winners were Brian Edwards, Lee Cookson, Simon Gow & Dave Pogson; runners up were John Dolan, Joel McLaughlin, Jack Redmond & Haytham Baker while Third place went to David Hughes, Craig Allen, Keith Morrison & Mark Sanderson. The ladies played an 11 hole Scramble on Tuesday, teams of 3 so each player played every shot. The winners with 38.7 net were Kate Sparre-Dean, Hillary Sharpe and Yvonne Parker with 40.0 in second were Pauline Darbyshire, Kelly Marsh and Val Smith. Third place and just 0.1 behind were Judith Brown, Margaret Nicholas & Sue Lovell. |
