Breaking the 40 point barrier... Trotter 9 last week was a high scoring affair (which is good in stableford).
I played with Joe Williamson, he went out in just 29 shots on the front 9! The winner with 43 points and a 69 of his own was Matt Bowes. Jay Tank was runner up on 42 and in third with the same score was Matt Ingram |
QEII Salver
Saturday's competition was the QEII Salver where this time scoring was low.
Mark Sanderson took top spot with a 68 in Division One while, runner up, just one back, was Dave Cederholm and third with 70 was David Harland.
Mike Green was just one shot off the pace himself in Division Two with a 69, Norman Waddell was second with a 72 and in third with the same score was Freddie Williams. |
Mark's at it again...
Well done once again to Mark Dunbar who won the yellow tee Stableford with 39 points - he seems to own this event! Runner up with 37 was Tommy Grace and third with 35 was John Wakefield. Adam Moore won the lowest gross and Harry Bennett was the best junior. |

Lads keep on winning!
Our league winning scratch team did it again on Tuesday night away at Prenton. - Josh Parry & Dave Cederholm won 3&2 (6 from 6 as a pair this season)
- Dan Ince & Matt Bowes lost 2&1
- George Roberts & Mark Sanderson won 3&2
It was Mark's debut for the team and what a debut it was with birdies on 6,7,8,9 & 11. |
Hole 13 - One of the toughest... A very daunting hole off the back tees with out of bounds left and the red penalty area right which make it SI 4.
If there’s ever a time to pick a line and commit to it this is it! The fairway slopes from left-to-right, and the very longest of players will reach the bunker on the left, but for most of you that’s a great line off the tee.
If you’re a competent bunker player then get a long club out for your second shot, but if the sand causes you problems then hit a mid-to-short iron short of them and leave yourself a full pitch.
Like the fairway, the green will collect the ball and send it left-to-right, so factor this in to your approach, but avoid going long as a chip back from near the path is like playing down a marble staircase in the summer.

Time for a little refresh? If you're still wearing polos from years gone by that have threads hanging off and buttons missing then it's probably time you upgraded your wardrobe - wouldn't you agree? We have a fantastic range of clothing available in-store, some of which has been discounted for your pleasure - and in peak season, too! So, be sure to pop your head in next time you're down the club and bring that old shirt with you. |

Mathematics can be a complicated subject with all that pi, algebra and calculus floating around, but there is one simple equation we can all understand: uncomfortable golf shoes = a miserable time for all
|
Let’s break down this equation further The main problem here is that walking on hard ground for four hours/18 holes in the summer months can take its toll on our feet. Blisters and bleeding are common signs that something isn't quite right and the issue will only be exasperated if your golf shoes are worn, cracking or ill-fitting.
|
So, what’s the answer? After running the numbers through our super-computer, we end up with a pair of golf shoes that are designed for comfort, like adidas’ Tour360 XT. It boasts Boost cushioning, which will have you feeling like you’re walking on clouds every step of the way. Why not pop in the shop and try a pair on this summer? |
