Nice to see him back...
There was a weaker field for the Porsche European Open in Germany last week as the majority of the big hubs had the week off. Still, there had to be a winner. My tip for the week was young Scott Robert Macintyre and, to my delight, he had a 4 shot lead at the cut, but a slow Saturday of +2 saw him one behind going into the final 18 holes where, with a superb score of 5 under par, Paul Casey triumphed by one shot ahead of McIntyre. Well done Paul, Nice to see him win in Europe again.
This week is a tough one to call but I’d keep an eye on home hope Joost Luiten |
Pete's in cruise control...
The penultimate Trotter of the year was played out on Thursday. Numbers were down as only 56 played, maybe the Walker Cup had something to do with this, however, there was all to play for. Peter Walsh cruised to victory with 42 points ahead of playing parter Paul Ince with 39, third with 38 was Paul Cottrell. |
Pipped at the post...
Saturday was team fun again in the Wave Comp. The team of Lee Cookson, Neil Stephenson & Simon Gow got the better of Simon Banks, Lewis Body & Rob Bevan as both teams scored 79 while third place went to Andrew Kitchen, Paul O’Neill & Nick Orr with 78.

Judith tops the tree...
On Tuesday the ladies played a Stableford. Judith M Brown topped Division One with 36 points, Sue Banks and Trudi Harris we’re second and third respectively with 35.
Deb Bevan was Division Two winner with 34, second and third were Maureen Blackham and Theresa O’Neill with 33.
A card countback was needed to decide that Kyle Betteridge was to win division three as her 34 just pipped that of Gail Green, third with 30 was Irene Scott.
Julie Graham was the stand out performer of the day though with a superb score of 38 to win division four, Iona Betteridge was second with 35 and third with 27 was Rosemary Greaney.
Ann Cleary was the 15 hole winner with 15, runner up with 14 was Brenda Dooney

Congratulations to Graeme Le Swain who got his revenge on Paul Jenkins on Tuesday afternoon in the Seniors Singles knock out trophy final with an impressive 4&3 defeat. |
Ending the summer with a win...
Well done to Myles Bentley who won the Junior Summer meeting with a 74 on Sunday. |

The Captain and I resumed our challenge matches on Tuesday with a well fought victory on the last green against my dad Neil & Rick Austin meaning it’s still only one pair who have managed to defeat us with 4 games to play. |

They've done it again... When a product has been the centre of a range for over a decade you know it must be pretty special, right? We certainly think so and it can be said of the Srixon AD333 golf ball, which is now into its ninth generation. How does it differ? Well, it feels amazingly soft, provides even more distance and imparts a lot of spin when around the green. It's definitely worth a go, even if we do say so ourselves.

Before we pit these two beauties against one another, have a think about how good your bad shots are? It's a bit of an oxymoron, but are they disastrous and leading to big scores or are they less penal and still go somewhere around the green? |
Red corner - Titleist T300 irons If your bad shots really are bad then it's definitely worth looking at a game-improvement iron, like the T300 from Titleist. Not only does it come with added tungsten weighting in the toe for maximum forgiveness that you'll appreciate, but Max Impact technology provides incredible distance and feel across the entire face.
|
Blue corner - Titleist T100 irons Those of you who tend to strike the ball well the majority of the time should consider the T100 model. It's a player's iron with a cleaner look next to the ball, and allows the better player to shape and flight the ball in whichever way they want. Both of these irons are available to try in your local pro shop today!
