Competition news

Trotter 5

Trotter 5 was a happy day for junior member James Webster who topped division one with 42 points. Runner- up with the same score was Tom Dodds and third with 41 was Lee Cookson.  

There was also a tie in division two but Colin Pennington’s 40 points pipped Chris Starkie’s on the back 9. Third with 39 was Gareth Pennington.


Alf Lambert Salver

There was a rest from the blues on Saturday as the gents took to the white course for the first time since lockdown for the Alf Lambert salver. The juniors were at it again, this time Ev Demetrios took top spot in division one with a 69, runner-up with 70 was Carl Adams and in third with the same score was Simon Banks.

The Salver winner however was Keith Morrison with 68 in division two., Behind Keith was Trevor Cornford and Ben Kelly, both with 70.

Gary Williamson took advantage of the new division structure with a win in number three. His score of 75 was the best of 4 and knocked Simon Gow and Chris Starkie into second and third respectively.


Junior Team 

The Junior team took on Caldy at home on Sunday and were victorious to the tune of 2-1, it’s great to see the Junior section beginning to thrive again. Well done to Jason!


A great turn out for the Ladies!

It was back to singles for the ladies on Tuesday, where 72 played but we've not got the final results through as of yet unfortunately.

Watch out for the results in next week's edition!

 
Shop news

Cover up!

First things first - we are a pro shop but a shop all the same so to enter you will need to wear your mask in accordance with government guidelines. This will take effect from this Friday, so please have a mask with you in order to enter the Pro Shop.

Outstanding Balances

There are still a good number of outstanding balances on shop accounts, lots of these are for the range pass annual renewal. As mentioned, when you picked one up, after 12 months it will automatically renew on to your account. Should you wish to discontinue the scheme and just buy tokens as and when you practice then that’s no problem at all, just hand your card back into the shop and we will credit it accordingly.

Captain and Pro challenge

The Captain and I were back to winning ways again last Friday with a 2&1 win over Jamie Lloyd and Paul Cottrel.

It wasn’t plain sailing by any means but we managed to wear them down!

That’s now 2 won and 2 lost on the 18th so far!

Golf on Tour

Tiger returns!

Tiger Woods made his return to golf at The Memorial Tournament, playing at a Jack Nicklaus-designed course alongside Rory McIlroy and Brooks Koepka. That’s pretty cool!

Muirfield Village, better known as Jack’s Place, proved to be a brutal beast. 3-over was enough to make the cut and even-par enough for a share of 10th, with even the world’s best notching double and triple bogeys.

Jon Rahm became just the second Spaniard in history, behind Seve Ballesteros, to become World No.1 after a convincing victory in Ohio. Despite going +5 on Sunday’s back-nine, Rahm cruised to a three-stroke win.

Rahm’s final score of -9 will not jump off the page of PGA Tour winners, but numbers could never tell the story of just how much Jack’s Place demanded.

Gapping: How, what & why?

How well do you know each club in your bag? Perhaps more importantly, how well do you know your entire set? Your clubs are not individual tools, so it's always useful to look at them as a set to identify any problematic areas.

Book a professional gapping session

We’ve all taken out the wrong club from time to time and found ourselves hitting far too long or too short. The frustration is unrivalled!

By coming for a gapping session, you'll leave with the knowledge of how far each club in your bag actually travels. Wave goodbye to the plus or minus 10-yard guesses!

Correctly gapped golf club distances

This sort of knowledge will fill you with confidence that you have the right club in your hand, whether laying-up off the tee or attacking a flag.

A good side note of coming for a gapping session is that we will find any yardages that you don't have covered, as well as any clubs that go the same distance - a real waste!
