Trotter 8
It's good to see club competitions are still as healthy as ever. Trotter 8 has now been played and there’s a race to catch Allan McMaster at the top of the series leaderboard.
Last Thursday’s Division One winner was the Captain Jayesh with an impressive 43 points, only beating runner up Dan Holsgrove on countback, third with 42 was Chris Thomas.
Ian Wilson matched Jay’s score to top Division Two, runner up was John Body with 42 and in third with the same score was Chris Starkie.
Gayton Estates Medal There was more white tee action on Saturday for the gents in the Gayton Estates medal and Phil Gow recorded the lowest score of the year on a Saturday with a blistering 66, did his success have much to do with his recently fitted Titleist irons?
Second and only one back was Peter Vine and third in Division One was Joe Williamson with 68 (gross 67!). Division Two was a battle of Ben’s as Cornford pipped his friend Berkson after scores of 69 & 70 respectively, and third with 72 was Russ Smith. Paul Fairclough has been threatening a low one and it came on Saturday as he was the Division Three winner by 4 shots with a 69. Second with 72 was Ray Lawless and third with 73 was Russ Favager. Grandmother's Trophy
The ladies contested the Grandmother's Trophy this week and Susan Totty was the winner with her round of 37 points, runner up to her in Division One was Kath Milligan with 34, and third with the same score was Jackie Walker.
Hillary Sharpe got the better of Sue Wright in Division Two after two more 34's, third with 33 was Deb Mintowt. Yet another countback was needed in Division Three as Sylvia Comer's 35 pipped Jaqui Hynes', third with 34 was Kyle Betteridge.
Yes, you guessed it, a fourth countback was needed to separate Iona Betteridge's winning 33 from Sue Jones' in Division Four, and third with 32 was Trish Lees.
Captain and Pro Challenge
The Captain and I were certainly up against it on Tuesday.
Leo Baldwin off 17 handicap played 12 of the holes in 13 under par net and then his partner Alan Jones was 3 under on the other 4 that we played. The end result was a 4&2 defeat for us. Well played lads!
It will have to take something special from the remaining challengers to prevent Alan & Leo going on to the honours board.
