Greetings from Tom Atkinson
Heswall Golf Club - PGA Golf Professional

We have still got a good number of shoes left for both ladies and gents in the SALE. Don't worry if we don't have your size as our first delivery of FootJoy shoes for 2015 has also arrived. We also have 40% OFF Daily Sports, GreenLamb and Murray Golf clothing.

Our offer of a FREE Club MOT is still running until the end of the month. A few members have taken advantage of this and we have now made the changes based on our findings. Just fill in a form and drop your clubs in with us.

If you have not used a GPS to help with your yardages then please come and see us as I now have my new SkyCaddie TOUCH ready to demo. This information is vital for any level of golfer, you will be amazed at the benefits to your game of knowing the exact yardage.

Those people wishing to blow the cobwebs away after Christmas have certainly had the chance to do that over the last week with gale force winds making for tricky playing conditions.

The scores from Thursday's Midweek Stableford, however, would make you think we were playing in the southern hemisphere! Rick Austin has started 2015 like he finished 2014, returning 31 points (1 under gross!!) over 12 holes. There were then a whole host of players on 28 points, the best of these being Trevor Starkey Jones in second and Chris Moores in third. A special mention to Martin Higby for his ace on the third (for 6 points!!).

Saturday's competition was a fourball, again over 12 holes, starting from the 13th. The most common comment being that the 5th should have been a par 7! Winning, with a score of 26 points, were John McNeill and Mike Edwards. In second on 25 were Bryan Baldwin and Nick Brown and in third with 24 were Keith Stevenson and Phil High.

The wind had died down considerably for the ladies' Texas Scramble on Tuesday, again over 12 holes. There was just one prize up for grabs and the winners with a nett of 48.2 were Pauline Derbyshire, Barbara Stokes and Jackie Walker.

Congratulations to one of Alan Thompson's ex-England players Andy Sullivan in his playoff victory over Charl Schwartzel in the South African Open.
