Trotter 13 It was unlucky for some, but not for Lewis Body as he stormed to a winning 44 in Trotter 13. Runner up to him in division one and just two back was Phil High, and third with 41 was Jim Eddowes. Tom Williamson was the division two winner with a very solid score of 38, second with the same score was David Hughes and third, again with 38, was Mark Dunbar Annemaria Kitchen was the subject of a 0.8 handicap reduction after winning the ladies event with 37, Sara Spencer was second with 35.

Gents Texas Scramble There was a much-anticipated team game for the gents on Saturday, a Texas Scramble where ( almost ) all of the teams played 4 tee shots but only 3 second and subsequent shots. With an impressive score of 56.5, the winners were Dan Holsgrove, Danny Leonard, Dave & Mike Thomas. If you've seen these lads hit it you couldn't imagine them needing more than a wedge into most holes though! Second, on the day with 57.3 were Nick Orr, Jeff Bowes, Graham Small & Keith Greenfield, third with 57.8 were Graham & Ben Dixon, Mike McQueen and Ryan Mciver.

Ladies Stableford The ladies played a competition of their own on Saturday, and with her first win since joining the club and 31 points was Fran Carter. Runner-up with 29 was Helen Billington and third with the same score was Sue Wright.

Finals Day There's been some fantastic weather of late but Sunday was extra special for finals day. The results have been published by the club already but I'd like to thank the Captains, Tony Walker and his team for all their efforts in helping the day run so smoothly.
|
Ladies Invitation The fantastic weather continued into Tuesday for the ladies invitation, the course once again was superb and the visitors were suitably impressed. Even more impressive were Jane Mounfield and her sister in law Julia, who with a whopping 51 points were the winners by 9 points! The runners up with their own impressive score of 42 were Alice Rogers & Barbara Davies and in third with 39 were Christina Hornsby & Caroline Berry with 39.

Lady Captain and Pro Challenge The Lady Captain and I did battle again on Wednesday, and this time our opponents were Kelly Marsh & Christina Hornsby. There was only one shot in it, but we needed many more.
Kelly on the 7th tee told us how she'd dreamt a hole in one the night before, and she then stood on the tee and hit the hole with her tee shot, and Christina duly converted it for a '2'.
We fought hard to claw the one hole deficit back but my tee shot on 18 ended up in a horror spot in the greenside bunker and we went down by 2 holes.
Great game!

Harry debuts for Cheshire!
HUGE congratulations to Junior member Harry Burgess who made his debut for Cheshire U14's on Sunday. Giving a number of shots to one of Eaton Golf Club's junior team Harry earned his first point for the team with a well-fought half. This call up is nothing less than he deserves for all the time he puts in at the club; working on his own game, helping out with younger juniors, and also with range duties for the shop. Harry is a true asset to the club. Well done Harry!

It's Major week This weekend's U.S. Open will feature plenty of familiar faces with the likes of Dustin Johnson, Tiger Woods and new-father Rory McIlroy all teeing it up in New York. Given the dominance of these players in recent years, it might be foolish to look past them when considering who might be crowned champion, but that’s exactly what we’re going to do. Webb Simpson is certainly worth a look in our eyes. A couple of wins and regular top-10 finishes in the just-finished season means confidence will be sky-high. Speaking of confidence, Collin Morikawa won the PGA Championship in just his second Major start and looks like he’s just warming up. Will fatherhood have Rory firing or tiring? Can DJ get over the line at another Major? Or is it time for somebody else to take centre-stage at Winged Foot GC? We can't wait to find out! If the year’s second Major has you itching to play better golf, send us a message below and let us know which part of your game needs the most attention.
