Hole Six - 367/295 yards (Par 4)
The 6th hole is one that people are often relieved to get to because of its low stroke index. This one is all about the tee shot, it's not a long hole but placement is key. Anything finding the fairway will set you up with a good look at the green which is long and narrow but fair. Anything off target from the tee will leave some doubt in your mind as to going for it or not as pretty much every pitch or chip onto this green is a difficult one.
I would always tell you that distance control into a green is paramount, however being pin high off this green, especially to the right side, can be treacherous. An approach finishing in-line but either long or short will often grant you best access to the flag. The 6th hole's defence against the longer hitter who could drive it with a good shot is definitely its green. The undulations leave no flat putts what so ever which is why we don't see hundreds of birdies on the hole by hole statistic sheet.
Thicker grips have definitely been the order of the week with a few sets of irons being gripped with oversize grips and more than a few putters having thicker SuperStroke grips fitted. If you've not tried one of these or you feel you need bigger grips on your clubs then pop in and we will talk you through it.
