Hole 16 - 183/140 yards (Par 3)
No matter which tee you play off, finding the putting surface is not an easy task. I would hedge my bets that the bunker on the right is the most visited on the course. Flying it all the way requires a high towering shot to stop it quickly. Some of the most effective shots I have seen here have only flown 60% of the way and rolled the rest. Remember, it's not how it's how many. More club off the tee with an easier swing will produce a lower flight. A ball coming to rest in the mouth of the green short is one of the easiest to get up and down around this green.
Congratulations to Blair Salver Winter League winner John McNeil after he defeated Steve Skupski on the 19th to take the title.
Six under par was the number in Thursday's Midweek Stableford as Phil Taylor carded 30 points. Dave Holgate must have thought his 29 points was good enough, it was but only for second. Martin Higby probably also thought his 27 had a chance but he had to settle for third after a four-way tie.
Blustery conditions again for the Texas Scramble on Saturday. The team of John McNeill, Terry Hurst and Peter Dowell took top spot with nett 58.7, in second with 59.8 were Roy Christian, Jim Rymer and Brian Edwards with Gareth Lewis, Ben and Graham Dixon in third with 60.2.
The ladies played another round of Knockout Foursomes on Tuesday. Some closely fought matches all over the course, wintery conditions making for some tricky holes.

My next Putting Clinic will be on Wed 20 May from 9.00am-12.00pm. Places are already filling up so book yourself in via the shop. One of the members of last week's clinic stopped me to tell me that he had gone around the course for the first time ever without a 'three-putt', saving a huge amount of shots versus his normal scores. Why don't you come along to the next clinic and see if you can do the same?!
I have been offered the opportunity to buy demo clubs into to shop which is a fantastic addition to our service. However, although we can generally keep a note of who has borrowed them, in some cases when it is busy this doesn't happen and a number of our 2015 clubs have gone missing! I'd be grateful for their safe return so that others have the opportunity to try them.
Not many people value the importance of new grips. If your grips are worn or shiny then you will be gripping the club for dear life. This will play havoc with the function of the wrists in the swing and lead to poorer striking and higher scores. We can re-grip your whole set in about two hours or just a couple of clubs while you wait. Come in and ask as you will see the benefits immediately.
