Our golf course is in the best condition that we have seen it in. It was noticeable after the recent rain that the ball is making more of a pitchmark in the greens. Please endeavour to not only repair your own but others as you do so. The divot bags are being well used so let's keep this up with the use of your pitchfork.
Thu 30 Aug - Last Thursday's Trotter 13 yet again produced some magnificent scores. This time the winning score was a fine 64 after a gross 82 from Andrew Roberts. Runner-up was David Lawless with a 68 on countback from Mark Sanderson in third.
Sat 1 Aug - The Gents' Invitation was a huge success as ever on Saturday despite some soggy golf! A lot of hard work and planning goes into running the event and although it doesn't go unnoticed, this year Organiser Martin Higby was rewarded by his good play as he and his guest Mark Brennan handed in a winning card of 46 points!! Runners-up were Ian Young and his guest with 45. There were 13 twos and for the first time in a long while a hole-in-one by Steve Mahon (guest of Dave Pennington) on the 7th. The course was in excellent condition so thanks to Guy and his team and Trevor Moon and his committee.
Tue 4 Aug - The ladies played a Medal on Tuesday for the Grandmother's Trophy. In Division One Clare Palmer triumphed by two shots from Sue Totty after 77 and 79, respectively. In third was Pauline Darbyshire with 81. A countback was needed to decide Division Two as Ruth Walker's 76 pipped Sandra Jones', Nicola Danford Jones was one shot further back in third. In Division Three there was a winning 77 for Shelagh Macdonald, one ahead of runner-up Sheila Kenwright and in third on 79 was Marg Nicholas. The lowest score of the day came from Anne Chadwick as her winning score of 72 took Division Four, runner-up was Rose Dhenin with 75 beating Alice Rogers who was third on countback. After all this the actual winner of the Grandmother's Trophy was Rose Dhenin. Congratulations, Rose.
I hope you enjoy the rest of the newsletter and have a great week.
