We are hosting a Putter Fitting Day by Raa putters on Thursday, 27 August between 11.00am - 3.00pm. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the importance of having a putter that suits your stroke. Please register your interest in the pro shop or get in touch here to book yourself a slot
I have noticed more than a few golf bags outside the shop this week harbouring some equipment from the Ice Age!! We all enjoy our golf and nothing makes it more enjoyable than hitting the ball better and handing in some lower scores. I have an abundance of the latest clubs available for you to demo, you have nothing to lose so please come in and speak to us and we will get them in your hands.
By the way, the club that best suits your game isn't necessarily going to the most expensive one!
Huge congratulations to Rachael Goodall for her fourth place finish on the latest LET event in Sweeden. This has seen her rise significantly higher on the order of merit in her quest for a full ladies tour card
Today sees the start of the PGA Championship from Whistling Straits on Lake Michigan. For those who don't like bunkers, have a think about this. There are 967 of them on this course and 96 of those are on the 18th. It's hard to call the winner in any golf event but this one is especially tough. Bubba Watson will come close again having finished runner-up last week. Justin Rose is also playing well but keep an eye out for Kevin Na as a bit of an outside chance!
Thu 6 Aug - Trotter 14 saw a return to form for Dave Green as he carded a 68 off the yellow tees. Brian Edwards will rue 'that missed putt' as he was knocked into second on countback, one shot further back in third was Dave Cederholm with 69.
Sat 8 Aug - The QE II Salver white tee medal on Saturday produced some fine stories. A hole-in-one on the 14th by Steve Ladell, three twos on the par 3s for Tom Dolan and a lifetime ambition accomplished by Peter Lees as he brought his handicap back down to single figures in his 70s!!! The winner of the Salver itself was Colin Smith after a blistering 67. Some recent hard work and tenacity paid off for Mike Taylor in second with 69 with Mike Edwards finishing third with 70 to complete the Division Two scores.
Sun 9 Aug - The juniors are getting some regular competition time this summer and it was Gregory Wilkinson who won the 12 hole Stableford this week with his three-under-par score of 27 points.
Tue 11 Aug - What a day we had for the Ladies Invitation on Tuesday. Firstly, thanks to all of the ladies who ran the front desk and senior gents who were starters on the day. The visitors had nothing but praise for the course. Congratulations to Pat Sheen and her guest with a winning score of 43 points. Runners-up were Alice Rogers and guest with 40 and in third were Christine Hancock and her guest with 39.
