I am writing this week's newsletter from The Golf Trade Show up in Harrogate. There is lots of exciting new product on offer for 2016. I hope to keep the pro shop stocked with the very latest the golf world has to offer, this means turning it over on a regular basis. Don't forget my price match offer, all you need to do is give us the opportunity. Thanks for your continued support.
I'd like to express my thanks to Josh for his hard work during his time with us. He has now moved into a role with American Golf, however you will still see him at the Club enjoying his golf. I'd also like to welcome Ally Macdonald on to the team. Ally will be working once or twice a week on a part-time basis. He is also a member of the Club, many of you will know him but for those who don't, please go and introduce yourself.
Orders for winter wheels have begun, the winter course will be set out next week and although it is still very firm it won't be long before conditions change. Don't forget if you leave your wheels with us we can fit the winter tyres for just £24.99! Motocaddy and Powakaddy replacement wheels are £69.99!
There's still plenty of time to order a club crested sweater from Glenbrae. If you are unsure on the styling then have a browse through their website www.glenbrae.com.
This week the European Tour was back up to the west coast of Scotland for the Dunhill links trophy at St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns. A great opportunity for the celebrities to mix with the world's best golfers. The week belonged to team Nike and Thorbjorn Olesen, who edged a one shot victory in this impressive field. Here's what he used on his way to victory:
- Driver - Nike Vapor Pro 9.5-degree
- Fairway wood - Nike Vapor Fly Prototype 3-wood/15-degree
- Irons - Nike Vapor Pro (3-9)
- Wedges - Nike Engage 46-degree, 54-degree, 59-degree
- Putter - Nike Method 001 Proto
- Ball - Nike RZN Black
- Apparel - Performance
- Footwear - Lunar Control 3
And of course, all of the above is available in your pro shop!
We don't have much to catch up on this week with the Graden Work on the course, however Saturday's 4BBB was subject to some low lying fog which affected quite a few of the early starters. No problem however for Andy Nolan and Magdy Taher who blasted round in 47 points (11-under-par). Dave Harland and Laurie Kirkbride must have thought their 45 points was going to be close and it was. Third with 44 were Calum Dalton and John Sharman.
The ladies on Tuesday knew that they were heading into winter as conditions had changed for their stableford competition. Despite this there were still some excellent scores. In Division One Kate Dean topped the pile with 39 points, a welcome return to form for Hilary McNeill in second with 38, third with 34 was Barbara Jamieson. Division Two also saw an under par winning score as Jaquai Hynes returned 37 points, one point ahead of runner-up Liz Grayson and third with 32 was Christina Hornsby. Norah Baker scooped a well-earned victory in Division Three after some recent practice with 33 points, Ala Lloyd pipped Pat Sheen into second after they both carded 31. In Division Four, Helen Billington wasn't to be outdone by the above scores as she was a winner with 38, runner-up was Anne Chadwick with 34 and in third was Margaret Steeles with 33.
