This Saturday we have a FootJoy Shoe Fitting Day between 10:00am to 3:00pm. Did you know that 70% of people are wearing the wrong size shoes? Are you one of them? Well-fitted shoes not only help your energy levels out on the course but they provide a stable platform for your swing. Appointments are based upon 20 minute slots. Please phone the pro shop to book in or get in touch here.
The first batch of Glenbrae sweaters have now been ordered. We will contact you when yours arrive. Don't waste any time putting your order in.
The temperature has started to drop now. The best way of playing good golf and keeping warm is by layering up. A base layer, polo shirt, cover up and then waterproof or windproof is a better combination than one big thick fleece-type garment. You won't realise but your muscles and joints have been trained into a habit. Restricting these movements can lead to serious inconsistencies in your golf swing. Keep your head warm and keep your hands warm otherwise it will be a long hard round of golf out there!
Well done to captain Pat for winning the inaugural SLGC Bowl at Caldy GC earlier this month. Despite being under the weather he managed a fabulous 40 points to be the first ever name on the trophy.
Also very well done to Hayat Leung from the junior section who finished runner-up in the U13 category of the Lee Westwood Finals up at Close House over the weekend. Hayat works so hard on his game and is a fabulous prospect. He is a credit to our Golf Club.
Saturday's Individual Stableford saw 148 people compete on a lovely autumn day. In Division One, John McNeil topped the list with a four-under-par 40 points, one shot back with 39 was Steve Skupski, third on 38 was Bill Syvret. Alan Roberts beat Russ Favager to top spot in Division Two on countback after they both scored 40 points. Third on 37 was Paul Howard.
This was the last of the summer tee competitions and the decision was taken to make it a qualifier so please check for a potential new handicap. This Saturday sees the first competition of the winter blue tees.
The ladies played a Foursomes Stableford on Tuesday, congratulations to winners Sue Pogson and Clare Palmer for a fantastic score of 39 points. They were four clear of Pam Holden and Pauline Darbyshire in second who pipped Ruth Walker and Judith Brown on countback. Well done to Barbara Jamieson and Christina Hornsby for recording the only '2' of the day, on the 7th.
The British Masters returned to Woburn GC last week and it was a very young Brit that won it. Huge congratulations to Matthew Fitzpatrick on his debut victory out on Tour. This week is the Portuguese Masters from Vilamoura. Look out for Alexander Levy who was a record breaker here last year. Lee Slattery will also be teeing it up in his continued quest to make the Order of Merit top 60 and that coveted Race to Dubai place.
